TS Alberto

This morning, Tropical Depression One became Tropical Storm Alberto, the first named tropical storm of the 2006 season. But will it live long enough to cross Flordia on its projected path? Forcasters are uncertain, including Weather Underground's Jeff Masters, who suggests there's a chance the storm will be torn apart tonight. That doesn't mean it hasn't already done some damage--which you already know if you've seen the pictures of water flooding streets in Cuba on the Weather Channel or cable news shows. It's drifting away from Cuba now and on its way to Florida. Our area (south-central Alabama) seems to be out of luck to cash in on this rainmaker, though we sure could use it. But we're still watching it. All for now. (Why does this blog track tropical storms? Read this.)
