My favorite footware these days

These are my snow boots. And no, it isn't snowing outside, but I'm wearing them all day, inside and out. Because it is cold. The coldest weather these parts have had in 10 years. Right now, it is 13F outside, but with the wind chill it is -1F. Minus one. That's the coldest temp I've ever been in. Now, I know you folks in places like Minnesota, North Dakota and Manitoba are saying, You think that's cold?! Let me tell you about cold! Heh. But for a girl who grew up in the warm deserts of the Southwest, this is cold. It's so cold that the heat pump for the house can't keep up. It's switched to auxiliary heat and blowing warm air but can't get the house warmer than 62F. Which feels like heaven compared to outside, but still. It's cold.

I understand the relativity of cold. I grew up in the Southeast and now live in the Southwest. While I did truly love the snowy winters in Chicago for four years, I am thankful for the mild Arizona winters. I wear my slippers and a light jacket year-round here. If the temperature is below 75* and there's a draft or breeze, I'm cold.

I hear you! I live in Alaska, and hope not to live here much longer because I think it is absurd to have to experience anything below zero!

Carmie--
I wish for you some of the warmth we are are having on the north coast of California, where I worked up a good sweat this afternoon playing tennis in a sleeveless top. But everybody's worried about the redwoods on the surrounding hills who have gone many years now without a enough to drink.
