A different take on 'Cloverfield'

The other day, I mentioned to my husband that it would have been an interesting life if I had spent my educational and mental energies towards becoming a student of film. I love stories. And I simply adore the power of stories on film. Every once in awhile I stumble on a moment when I can see how it all works together, how the images and the narrative and the art of it all come together (intentionally or unintentionally) to create something profound and beautiful.

But that's only every now and then.

There are folks, however, who do this consistently. (I try to link to some of them on my sidebar.) And one of them is Peter Chattaway. Take a look at his latest ruminations over Abram's Cloverfield. Good stuff -- I hope he writes more.
