'License' revoked?

Well, the reviews are out for film-this-blog's-been-following License to Wed, about a young couple (Mandy Moore and John Krasinski) undergoing pre-marital counseling from a minister (played by Robin Williams). At Christianity Today, fav-critic-of-this-blog Peter Chattaway gives it 1.5 stars (out of 4), and says:
. . . the film ranges somewhere between boring and offensive. And I don't just mean offensive because of how it treats religious themes. I mean offensive in the sense that the entire film is populated by characters who drive each other crazy for no good reason, characters whose presence you are all too eager to leave.
Ouch. But Chattaway's not alone. It's getting a dismal 11% on the rotten scale at Rotten Tomatoes (which compiles mainstream media reviews). Oiy. In Christian circles, Hollywood Jesus has yet to review the film but Crosswalk's Christa Banister says, "Ultimately, there’s a good message mixed in with the hi-jinks in License to Wed, but it’s like the biblical reference of putting a jewel in a pig’s snout. It’s just not worth your time."

Too bad. I had some high hopes for this one.
