The Mummy is one of this blog’s favorite films, so I can’t resist devouring tidbits about the upcoming third film in the franchise, Curse of the Dragon. Comingsoon reports that mostly-TV-actor Luke Ford has been cast as Rick O’Connell’s (Brendan Fraser) twenty-something son, who with his dad “journeys into the forbidden tombs of China and into the Himalayas, where they run into a new shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor who was cursed by a female wizard.” Martial arts deity Jet Li (Hero, Fearless) plays the mummy and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha) the wizard. The franchise seems to be taking a full-blown father-son focus as Rachel Weisz (who played Evie O’Connell in the previous films) won’t be returning. Another family member will return, however: Wikipedia reports (Image: copyrighted by Universal Pictures)
