One of the main reasons I love Alabama

The storms! Yesterday we experienced one of the few good storms of the spring (and, ack, it’s almost summer—no wonder we’re in a drought). This photo was taken at 4:00 in the afternoon—and it’s as dark as night, which doesn’t occur here until well after 7:00pm. It was replete with jagged strikes of lightening across a dark and green sky and never-ending rolling thunder. Winds of 60 miles per hour tossed our lawn furniture across the yard. It was a sight to behold.

So, what are storms doing on a God-talk blog? Well, if you're a reader of this blog, you know I'm reminded of God by the ocean and the stars, but a good storm leaves me in utter, complete awe. I just love ‘em. My stomach flips when I hear thunder, and towering thunderheads never cease to amaze me. I’ll never forget the sound of Hurricane Ivan’s winds in the trees or the first time I saw a funnel cloud (which was last year and I actually got it on videotape which was aired on a local news channel, if you can believe that). Whether it’s a good thunderstorm or hurricane, I am left in awe of the power and magnificence of God. If I weren’t married with two young kids, I might even be chasin’ these things. Anyway, it was a great afternoon. Blessings.
