"Acorn storm!"
That's the cry you'll hear in my front yard most afternoons after school. My kids yell it as they duck-and-cover every time they hear the wind start to move through the trees.
Clunk. Clunk. Crack. Clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk. Thwack! Clack. Clunk. Clack-clunk. Crack--
And that's the sound of scores of acorns falling out of those trees and onto the roof, porch, driveway, car (oiy) and unprotected heads of delighted children.
I've never seen anything like it, heh. Sheesh.
