Today, the news hit the wire that Barak Obama and John McCain, the Democrat and Republican candidates for the upcoming U.S. presidential election, will appear together at Rick Warren's Saddleback church next month for a Q&A, where Warren will "most likely focus his questions on how each candidate arrives at his decisions, where they go for counsel and how they view issues of faith," according to spokesperson Whitney Kelley in the LA Times. Personally, I find this amazing--that the two would appear together in this venue. Yeah, it's politically advantageous for both candidates to put themselves before the evangelical voting block (who, by the way, aren't all voting the same these days), but I can't help but yip for the sheer joy that discussions of faith will hit the mainstream. (Hat tip for this to my good friend, Susie)
So Paul took his stand in the open space at the Areopagus and laid it out for them: "I'm here to introduce you to this God.... He doesn't play hide-and-seek with us. He's not remote; he's near. We live and move in him, can't get away from him!" ~Acts 17
