We had a plumbing leak which let itself out in a storage room in the basement. Where those buckets are now were boxes of old files (like the one above that I can't even move because it will fall apart), memoriabilia (below) . . . .
. . . and boxes filled with photos (below) . . . .
It could have been
a lot worse. As it was, only five or six boxes got soaked (out of the 20 or so in that room). And that isn't even close to what folks are dealing with who've experienced flooding in the states west of us this winter. Man, do I feel for them. Anyway, I'm spending the day (and probably a couple after this) soaking and separating water-glued-together photos in hopes of rescuing as many as possible. Another good argument for digital photos and online storage places like
flickr.
