More 2008 films

ComingSoon recently highlighted Sony’s 2008 schedule, and keeping in step with previous posts, here are some more films I’m looking at with interest this year. They’re not necessarily the most likely to receive an Oscar, but they are films I wouldn’t mind seeing:

First Sunday (Jan 11): A comedy about two guys whose plan to rob a church go awry when they “end up spending the night in the presence of the Lord and are forced to deal with much more than they bargained for.”

The Other Boleyn Girl (Feb 29). This period piece centers on the competition between Anne and Mary Boleyn in the courts of the King of England.

Hancock (July 2). Will Smith plays a “sardonic” hero whose “well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake.” Comic book films are favorite of this blog—and this film promises to be an interesting take on the whole genre.

Bond 22 (Nov. 7). The next film in the recently rebooted Bond franchise. Casino Royale was a 2006 favorite for this blog, and it will be interesting to see if this one maintains its thought-provoking elements.

Seven Pounds (Dec 12). Another Will Smith film, this one re-teams Smith with “ the director and producers of The Pursuit of Happyness for the emotional story of a man who will change the lives of seven strangers.”
