HP reviews are out

Well, the reviews are out for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth in the series of film adaptations of the novels. The verdict? Rotten Tomatoes has it at 77% fresh, with a compilation of 112 reviews so far. Not bad.
A sampling of reviews from critics in the Christian media? Fav-critic-of-this-blog Peter Chattaway has his review up at Christianity Today and gives the film 2 stars (out of 4), concluding rather dismally: "It is also sobering to think that a series that began with such potential is beginning to show serious signs of sequel fatigue. Let us hope that the franchise gets its second wind, and soon." Hollywood Jesus and James Dobson's PluggedIn have yet to post a review, but Crosswalk has a review up by Lisa Rice, who's a bit more positive and concludes that "The Order of the Phoenix stays away from some of the more overt dark images and teaches (whether intentionally or not) some interesting spiritual lessons." While he doesn't give a review, Jeffrey Overstreet has some interesting things to say at Looking Closer. And you can always check out what this blog's been saying, heh.

And that's it for now.
