More on 'Mummy 3'

The Mummy is one of this blog’s favorite films, so I can’t resist devouring tidbits about the upcoming third film in the franchise, Curse of the Dragon. Comingsoon reports that mostly-TV-actor Luke Ford has been cast as Rick O’Connell’s (Brendan Fraser) twenty-something son, who with his dad “journeys into the forbidden tombs of China and into the Himalayas, where they run into a new shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor who was cursed by a female wizard.” Martial arts deity Jet Li (Hero, Fearless) plays the mummy and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha) the wizard. The franchise seems to be taking a full-blown father-son focus as Rachel Weisz (who played Evie O’Connell in the previous films) won’t be returning. Another family member will return, however: Wikipedia reports John Hannah (who plays comic relief Jonathan, Evie’s brother) is signed on Evie's brother Jonathan will return (though actor John Hannah hasn't yet signed on to portray the character). (Thanks to the commentor below for correcting my error.) The film is slated for July 2008.
