'The Great Divorce' on stage

Hat tip to my friend Susan for the heads-up on this trailer for the Magis Theatre stage adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ Great Divorce in New York. The production was developed by Jesuit actor George Drance (whose favorite line in the book is: “We know nothing of religion here: We think only of Christ.”). Tony-nominated composer Elizabeth Swados created the music for the production. The play is noted on the Jim Henson Foundation site for its use of puppetry and its development was picked up on (with seeming enthusiasm) last year by NarniaFans. Eastern Gate, another NYC theatrical company, is working with Magis in the production, which will open January 18 at Theatre 315. (If the video doesn’t play, see it at YouTube.)
